At the Verizon store, I bought a memory card reader so I can transfer all the photos and videos from my cell phone to my computer. (After looking up this link on Amazon, I would recommend NOT purchasing one from your cell phone shop. Holy cow! Major price mark-up compared to Amazon's price.) I usually email pictures to myself from my cell phone, but I had fallen way behind on deleting them. Then I was afraid to delete any of them in case I hadn't transferred them. It was a vicious cycle. My mom told me that her friend had purchased one of these readers. I think that was last spring or early summer. I had never heard of them before that, but this is exactly what I needed and am glad I FINALLY purchased one. If all of you have heard of these card readers and are wondering why I was the last to know, remind yourself that I have been living an oblivious, almost completely disconnected life for the past 18 months. Ignorance is bliss, right?
With the arrival of each new baby to our friends or family, my baby fever rises. I must be crazy, because the boys' first year was hard. I knew I could do it, but only because I took it one day and sometimes one hour at a time. I think what I really want is to be able to go back and re-live some of the earlier days, but in a more restful state that comes when babies sleep through the night. Or when they go to college? Or never? Who knows.
This evening, I transferred over 1,000 pictures from the past 18 months. Looking through these was so heart-warming. You may have seen a few of these before and they may be a little out of order. Here are my favorites from April through August, 2010:
This first one was actually from February, about two months before our little guys came along. I couldn't attend my cousin's wedding, so I sent them a cell phone greeting instead.

Home from the hospital and heading out for our first walk.

Aiden and his famous big eyes.

Eric carrying both of the boys, because I still wasn't allowed to carry anything too heavy following my C-section.

Reid.

Aiden.

Post nursing snooze.

Aiden snuggling with Daddy.

Reid snuggling with Daddy. There were a lot of cords around our living room- video monitor, pump, oxygen tubes, power strips. Good thing they weren't moving on their own yet.

My first time all by myself with the boys. This was toward the end of May. My parents were up in Casper working on packing up their house. Eric had just left for his first trip since the boys had arrived. I took Aiden and Reid over to school to attend a retirement party. I felt bad because they ended up falling asleep and went 4 hours in between feedings! Of course they were fine, but I had been feeding them every 2.5-3 hours, so I was a little concerned if they could make it that long.

Aiden's car alarm cry.

Post nursing snooze.

Super Grandma and Aiden. I think we sent her on 500 trips to Babies R Us and the grocery store during the first two weeks we were home.

Lots of post nursing snoozing. I couldn't move if the boys fell asleep while I had the nursing pillow wrapped around my waist. So I would just hunker down and wait for them to wake up. Sometimes I would sneak in a little siesta myself. I wouldn't trade all that snuggle time for anything.

Eventually, I remembered we had the monkey chairs! Word has it that cousin Eva is now getting good use out of the monkey chairs.

During this scene, I resorted to wrapping them up and holding them on the nursing pillow to see if could get them to stop crying.

Sometimes it worked and sometimes not.

Reid.

Aiden.

The first time I could make both of them smile for me on demand at the same time. It's going to be a long time before I can make that happen again. Too much to see and do and explore to sit down and let Mama take a posed picture.

Easy to forget the crying when they look like this. Awwww.

Visit to the doctor for a check-up.

Post nursing snooze.

Reid still loves bath time.

Post nursing snooze. Are you seeing a theme yet?

Trying to get a picture with the three of us. A little hard when only one of us could hold her head up.

Honk shoe. ZZZZZZZ.

Hanging out.

Once the boys were off of their oxygen, traveling upstairs was now a possibility. We worked on getting them used to sleeping in their cribs. Reid had a harder time, so I spent quite a bit of time rocking him and trying to get him to fall asleep before Aiden woke up. Syncronizing naps- not for the faint of heart.

Happy little guys.

Reid trying to hog the spotlight.

Aiden.

Smile? Reid says "Nuts to that!"
Maybe a little smile.
First road trip to visit Great Grandma Starrs in Cheyenne. I really miss her.

Wearing their Camp Luther t-shirts from Auntie Jennifer, Uncle Shane, and Cousin Jordan.

Picture I received from my parents on the first day I left the boys at home and went back to school. The boys love their nannies, Grandpa and Grandma.

Hanging out with Mama.

Heading out for supper with Mama, Grandpa, and Grandma.

Go Rockies!
Poor Reid gets so red when he cries. Sometimes it's tough being a little guy.
Other times it's pretty good.
Grandpa working on burping Aiden.
More play time. They loved their play mats.
Reid sacked out on Grandpa.
We sent a series of photos to the Iowa relatives as we waited for them to arrive at the beginning of June.

Cousin Adam arrived!
When I used to go to my parents's house for supper, we would put the boys on the floor in their living room to play under the ceiling fan. You may recall that Reid loved fans. When supper was ready, we would drag them across the floor to be closer to the kitchen. Don't worry. No one was hurt and sometimes we even got giggles.
Cousin Julie and the boys sporting their St. Olaf gear.
Hi, Mama!
Cousins.
Sisters.
Hanging out at the doctor's office. Eric and I joked that if anyone wanted to see the boys we should just let them know when we were going in for a check-up, because that was about the only time the boys were out and about.

Getting shots. Not fun!
OK, we're over it. Post trauma snooze.
I caught this picture early one morning before school. I would get Reid out of his crib first and then change him and put him in Aiden's crib. Loved the synchronized squirming and big smiles.
More posing. This is still Aiden's protesting face.

My attempt at doing a bedtime bottle feed by myself. Usually one of my parents would come over to help, if Eric was out of town. On this night, Aiden insisted on being held instead of sitting his monkey chair, while Reid kept dozing off.

Hanging out in mom and dad's room. Maybe I was attempting to pick up my messy closet.

Rolling over and tummy time is more fun when there's a game on.

Reid napping.

Aiden napping. At the same time! Victory!

One of my favorites. It's been the background on my cell phone since I took it.

Hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane. More to come in the future, but I should probably do some school work too.
