18 Months Old

The boys turned 18 Months Old on Sunday. Do I have to start giving their ages in years now? I'm not quite ready for that yet. Maybe when they turn 2. Or I could start using fractions. Next month, I'll tell everyone they're 1 and 7/12. Here are some photos from Sunday's outside adventures. The fall leaves were so beautiful this year.

The boys no longer fear touching grass. They both were sitting down at the same time, when Aiden decided to lean back. He would lean back just enough for the grass to start touching his head and then he would pop back up. I guess he still has his limits. Reid held onto those two rocks the entire time. If I had to state one thing that Reid really enjoys right now, it would be running around while holding onto the same item for long periods of time. Aiden enjoys driving his little cars around on the floor, up and down the parking garage, and on tables. I wonder if he'll end up with 5 million Match Box cars like my brother.

Reading continues to be a favorite activity. We could easily read 50 books to them in one sitting. Seeing Eric reading to the boys today from a different perspective made me smile and I was hoping to get a picture. They were both doing a lot of squirming right after I took it, so I was pleased to get the shot.

The boys also like to crawl onto the cruisers and beg for rides around the living room. I'm not sure Eric's back and my back can take much more of it. The boys sure enjoy it, though.

Today the boys had their 18-month appointment. Everything looks great. Aiden weighed in at 23 pounds and is 32.5 inches. Reid is 25 lbs, 10 oz and 33.5 inches tall.

We also saw our first snowfall of the year. It's supposed to warm up next week, so I hope it's not too cold on Halloween. We'd like to take the boys out to give Trick-or-Treating a try. Aiden is good at saying "Boo", so it would be a shame to not let him try it out. However, I predict they'll both be really shy and won't understand what we're up to.

Finally, I managed to do a little bit of crafting lately. I saw this knitted apple on Susan B. Anderson's site and thought it was such a neat gift to give a teacher. When I realized that I owned the book that it came from, I had to try it out. Teacher gifts are pretty rare in the high school world. I'm pretty sure I would start crying if I ever received a gift like this.

It won't be long before Reid will not only have mastered picking up the rock, but also throwing the rock. I'm probably more excited about this development than you are.

I remember David and I having a good time with rocks back in the day.
