Bikes

After having a few service issues with the old bikes, Eric and I were able to make two successful rides this week. We both really enjoyed the opportunity to get outside and spend some time together. Chatfield Reservoir is located just east of us- about a mile from our door. Yesterday morning, we made our first ride over the reservoir. We had to stop and ask one of the park workers for directions at one point, but it was well worth it because she was able to show us a path that completed our journey around the lake. This morning we woke up early so we could fit in another ride before Eric had to leave for the airport.

The yellow on the map is an outline of our route:

I used my birthday money to buy a GPS/heart-rate monitoring watch. I've really enjoyed using it although I look a little bit like Inspector Gadget wearing such a big watch. Luckily the size of the watch hasn't bothered me when I've been running or riding.

The following shows the map of our ride according to the watch:

The watch's software also includes stats on distance, pace, calories burned, and average heart rate:

Next time I'll try to get a picture of Eric too. If he'll let me. : )

I think our cross country team just bought two of those watches (or ones very similar) at the end of last season. They look pretty cool.
