School Days

Time to catch up with September...

09/02
Reid helping Grandma.
I left the boys at Grandma's house while I went somewhere (grocery store?). They were playing outside and excited to greet me when I came back to her house.

09/03
Labor Day weekend- We took a bike ride over to the reservoir. Helping Daddy pumping up the bike tires.

On our way.

Pit stop to check out the sights.

A cool dip in the water upon return.

09/04
Heading over to Grandma's for supper.
As we approach Grandma's house, Reid likes to say, "I do the ding dong."
Back scratching tree.

09/05
Harvesting rhubarb.

Not sure how Aiden ended up with a towel on his head.

Our bedtime routine includes reading about six books, drinking water, and singing songs. Reid most commonly requests "Twinkle", Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, while Aiden asks for "ABCs". Other favorites include, "Home on the Range", "Baseball" (Take Me Out to the Ball Game), "Boat" (Row, Row, Row Your Boat), "Sunshine" (You Are My Sunshine). I also suggest "Math", which is the quadratic formula sung to the tune of Pop Goes the Weasel. The boys giggle at me when I do that one, but they always ask for a repeat. I usually only do it when Eric is out of town, so he can't make fun of me in front of the boys. I also always sing "Rockabye Baby" when I have the boys wrapped up in towels after I get them out of the bath. They giggle when the baby falls and we say "Oh No!"

09/07
Potty chairs have been purchased but are not in use yet. I read in one of my twins books to make sure to have two of them, because they'll inevitably want to use the potty at the same time.
Jumping at Jocie's

Grandma and I took the boys out for supper that Friday night. They mostly ate ketchup and became fussier and fussier throughout the meal. Turns out they were coming down with the daycare cold and I was in for a long weekend. I think Aiden woke up a dozen times that night, no exaggeration. Even Reid, who never cries during the middle of the night, woke up a few times. I caught it a few days later and ended up staying home from school that Tuesday. And missed book club. :(

09/08
Lining up the books and sippy cups.
 And.... MARCH! MARCH!

09/09
Helping Mommy with the dishes.

09/10
The boys were pretending a couple of wooden replicas of Iowa State building were phones. When I ask who they're calling, they usually say, "Grandma".

09/11
Running/flying with Daddy.

09/12
I took the boys over to school for Chargerfest. They enjoyed the basketball booth.

With Charlie, the Charger.

09/13
Snack time at Jocie's.
Playing outside after arriving home after school. I think Aiden was trying to set a car-driving distance record.
Reid volunteered to go get him.
Aiden was not happy.
Picking flowers for Mommy.
While Daddy made supper (Yah!!!)
Trying on Mommy's new sandals.

Aiden helped me take this picture.

Reid checking out my magnificent graphing calculator.

09/15
Helping Mommy get the newspaper.
And do the ding dong.

Cookie Monster and Elmo make a visit.

I came downstairs to discover the boys reading a book on my iPad together.

Aiden asked me to draw a picture of him. "With glasses", he said.

09/16
I was searching for my old Friends DVDs in the basement. The boys took the opportunity to bring an exercise ball upstairs.

09/18
Trying on Mommy's necklaces and bracelets.
Aiden put one of the bath letters over his eye and said, "I a pirate. Rrrrr!"

Bath time is way too much fun. You can almost hear the giggles from these pictures.

09/20
Aiden using his plate as a steering wheel.
I took the boys to a volleyball match at school, where the highlight of the evening was climbing up and down the bleachers.

09/21
Friday night we were invited out to a friend's house for supper to meet up with several former friends from Casper.
Aiden checking out the chickens.
Reid petting their rabbit.

Fun outside.

Train time.

Fire truck!

09/22
From my Facebook update:
Spent the morning trying to drum up support for our school district's bond and mill in the upcoming election. The boys hung in there pretty well and enjoyed ringing door bells and saying "HI!" to everyone. (Wherever you live, friends, please consider supporting your local districts as they try to pass bonds and mills. The recession has really hurt our schools across the country. Keep class sizes lower by retaining teachers and maintain the variety of great programs.) http://www.supportjeffcoschools.com/

Off to Grandma's for supper. Reid was riding in a single (WEIRD!) stroller...
while Aiden drove his car.
He got stuck at the bottom of the driveway.
So Reid helped him out.

Luckily there was room in the garage.
Hanging out in the backyard after supper.
Heading home. Aiden helped me push the stroller home...
while Reid had a spin at driving the car.
