Weeks 25 & 26

Howdy!
Remember me?

Sorry the frequency of blog updates has slowed down. As I told my mom today, school has been insanely, crazy busy so far this semester. I'm teaching a new prep: Algebra 3, which is the equivalent of College Algebra. I describe it as Algebra 2 on steroids. Yet, it's not quite at the Pre-Calc (Math Analysis) level, which has created a nice option for some of our students who aren't going to be engineers, but need/want some more math. This is the first time we've offered this class since I've been at CSH. I'm the only one teaching it and have really enjoyed the opportunity to create a new class, which is something I've never had the chance to do. It's also the first time in 10 years of teaching that I'm making my own plans, quizzes and tests. In the past, I've always worked with a team, which has its own advantages and disadvantages.

I've taken a litte bit of time to work on baby stuff. I put together their baby books using this scrapbooking kit. (If you visit the link, scroll down to see posts describing the kit.)

I ordered airplane fabric (see below) from a fabric seller on Etsy. My mom has agreed to make the crib skirts out of this material. We're going to go with an airplane theme for the nursery. Although, I don't think we'll end up with anything over the top. Probably more of a piecemeal look.

I've also made several visits to Babies R Us to try to figure out what gear we need to get. It's amazing how much time I've spent researching infant baby carriers/ car seats. Yet, somehow I managed to survive being tossed into a laundry basket in the back seat of the car when I was a baby.

Eric just finished up training to switch back to the Airbus. He passed with flying colors (pun intended), which came as no surprise to me. He knows how to buckle down and study before training even starts. The wife of the captain he was training with during this past week sent a surprise gift home with Eric- these cute outfits. (We especially like the little chicks on the feet of the outfit on the left.)

And finally...
Week 25 (Picture taken January 19th):

Week 26 (Picture taken January 27th- Black sure is slimming! Or my camera man was standing farther away.):

Now, time to figure out what I'm teaching tomorrow. Maybe even Friday, if I'm lucky.

Thanks for the update. You're still looking great (black attire or not :) I'll be excited to see pictures of the nursery once you start putting it together. That fabric is really cute!
