Treat or Treat!

I posted many of the following pictures on Facebook this evening. One of my favorite things about having a blog is getting to tell the "rest of the story"...

About a month ago, I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do about dressing the boys up for Halloween. My ability to go shopping is limited to an occasional trip to the grocery store or Babies R Us. During a rare trip to Target I spotted a couple of "My First Halloween" onesies. They were fairly inexpensive and I felt they were a good buy because I would be able to use them a few times throughout October and maybe stretch their use through Thanksgiving. In the mean time, I must have been brainstorming different costume ideas. One Sunday, my mom called on her way to Jo-Ann's Fabrics and asked if I needed anything. At that instance I decided I would try to make m&m's costumes and asked her to pick up some felt. I cut out the felt m's on Friday night and ironed them onto the circles. Last night I sewed them onto a couple of white onesies purchased at Babies R Us after the boys were in bed. Count me among the thousands of moms finishing up their kids' Halloween costumes at the last minute.

Melt your heart, not your hands.

I think they turned out pretty cute considering my lack of planning. I dressed the boys in the costumes right before we went over to John and Jeani's for lunch. Of course Aiden pulled the m off of his shirt during the 5 seconds I had my back turned while lifting Reid onto the changing table. I finished dressing Reid, undressed Aiden, ironed the m back on, and got him dressed again. We made it to lunch and managed to keep the costumes together through picture time. They're now lying on the laundry room floor covered with rice cereal, milk, and peas. So much for reselling them on Ebay for hundreds. So worth it.

What brought us all together this afternoon? My Uncle Tom and Aunt Paula were visiting from Reno. It was so good to spend time with them this weekend and hear about their grandson, Grayson, who is about 6 weeks younger than Reid and Aiden. Also great to spend a couple of hours at John, Jeani, and Jacob's. Jacob is a few months older than Aiden and Reid. It's been so helpful to get tips from Jeani even during the briefest of our visits.

My mom had the brilliant idea of trying to pose the three babies together. I'm still giggling thinking about this photo session. Poor Jacob- we woke him up from his nap when we arrived at their house. He was tired and hungry when we were taking pictures. He's the only one of the three who can sit on his own, but he kept slouching lower and lower. Aiden randomly grinned and Reid looked more and more concerned. Quite the threesome.
