Set Your Camera Down

I have dozens of blog posts I've been writing in my head this week. I'll tackle them one at a time and see how much I can get posted this weekend. Lots, I hope!

I took these pictures Monday night, right before we gave the boys their bedtime bottles. The next day, one of my favorite bloggers to visit for crafty ideas posted a challenge to set your camera down and try shooting from a different angle. Talk about ironic timing.

Neat, huh? It can be good to see things from a different perspective. Boy do I appreciate that now more than ever, as it's so fun to see the world with two little ones.

The reason why I was shooting from a different angle was to test out my new lens. After follow-up discussions with my college friends, we figured out that the 50 mm lens I had purchased was not auto-focus. While I loved the images that turned out, only about 10-20% of the total shots taken were any good. I don't have steady enough hands for manual focus. I exchanged the lens and bought this 35 mm lens instead. As you will see, the results have been good.

The boys also got their first colds this week. My parents said Reid wasn't himself on Monday. After I arrived home from school, I started feeling stuffy as well. By Tuesday, Aiden was showing signs of having the cold as well. The boys weathered it pretty well. Aiden had the worst congestion which even woke him up in the middle of the night. Luckily, a rendezvous with the bulb syringe brought him relief and he went right back to sleep. It was weird to have one of the boys wake up in the middle of the night. That hasn't occurred for over two months now, which I thank my lucky stars about on a daily basis. It was a tough week for me to get through. A couple of nights I only got 4-5 hours of sleep because I had school work (planning and grading) to do after I finished everything around the house after the boys went to bed. It's hard enough to get so little sleep even without a cold. This was also a week when Eric was home for a super short amount of time. (Was it even 24 hours?!? I can't remember.) I'm happy to report that by the end of the week all three of us were feeling quite a bit better.

Know what's even better? We found Sr. Pablo AND Aiden is rolling over!

More info to come. It's off to bed for me.
