Week 31 Part Two

The official photographer made it home last night (Yah!), so here is the official Week 31 pic and stats.

At my appointment this past Thursday, the fundal measurement was still 40 cm (the babies must be spreading in the horizontal direction). My blood pressure was 114/72. Baby B's heart rate was 140 and A's was 28. I was not dialated at all. Everything still looking good as I begin weekly visits to the doctor's office.

I also have a few recipes to share:

Hershey's Kiss Peanut Butter Cookies

Beat well:
1 egg
1 t. vanilla

Add the following and beat well:
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 3/4 c. flour
1 t. soda

Form balls and roll in sugar.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8-9 minutes.
Put an unwrapped Hershey's Kiss
on top and cool.

(I doubled the above recipe which yielded about 4 dozen cookies. I had been wanting to make this for a couple of months. Glad I finally did- they are delicious and pretty easy.)

This morning I made:
Cinnamon Bun Pancakes with Maple-Butter Icing. (Click each title to go to the recipes.)
Yum!

And finally, a before-school picture from friday morning.

Week 31

It's been a little hard to be on 'no-travel' during the pregnancy. Especially this weekend. My cousin Mark got married in Minneapolis today. Definitely wish I could be there and see all of my family, but making sure the babies keep growing will be worth it. The babies did send along this message to my family this morning. (Keeping my fingers crossed that Eric will be home this evening, and then he can take the official Week 31 picture tomorrow.)

Hi Ringkobs! :) :)

In addition to messages from my cousins (thanks Amy and Julie!), this morning I received the following email from Stooey:

Where is you?

Yum, ice cream.

Nerd!

For my amusement, I graphed my fundal height measurement versus week of pregnancy. The blue line represents the one-to-one relationship of the "average" singleton pregnancy. My measurements are represented by the red points. I've also included a "line of best fit" or linear regression model.

Oddly enough one of the best fitting (according to my eye, not according to analysis) regression models is a cubic model.

The data:

(Thank you for letting me indulge my nerdiness. At least I know Karen will appreciate this post.)

Wild Blue Yonder

I had Eric take a Week 29 photo on Friday before he left on his trip, but it turned out blurry.

We'll try again when he gets home on Tuesday. I had a check up with ultrasound this past Thursday. Everything is still looking good; my blood pressure was 127/72 and my fundal measurement was 40 cm! Yep, I'm now measuring full term in size. We'll see what full term plus looks like and whether I make it to the 50 cm club. (Edit: I've gained 30 pounds so far and finally measured around my belly: 45 inches!)
Both babies' heart rates were 141 bpm. Baby A is still lying diagonal across the lower part of my belly. He weighs 3 lb 3 oz. Baby B is lying transverse across the top of my belly and weighs 2 lb 14 oz. Somehow Baby B managed to turn all the way around; his head used to be on my right side and now is on my left side. The boys are now feet to head which should make for some interesting poking and jabbing between the two of them.

With no school tomorrow, I decided I deserved at least one day without school work. So yesterday I headed out on a few errands which included buying fabrics for a wall hanging for the nursery. The current wall hanging is a little too flowery, but I'm going to use that same pattern but with blues and reds as well as the airplane fabric that my mom is using to make the crib skirts. While at the quilt shop, I discovered this pattern and thought it would be perfect for the nursery.

I made a few changes to the pattern. Dropped the 3rd plane because the perspective on it was kind of weird. I also retracted the landing gear on the 2nd plane; I think the resident pilot will agree with this decision. (Edit: It looks like I did the impossible- The resident pilot informed me that I managed to retract the gear and rear wheel on a fixed gear airplane. Oh well. I still like how it looks.) Just finished the wall hanging this evening; I really thought it turned out cute.

Whoops; belly in the way...

That's better...

Back to writing thank you notes, grading, and planning tomorrow. (By the way, if you bought us a high chair, Thank You! Unfortunately there was no packing slip, so we'll have to see if Babies R Us knows who bought it.)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Week 28

Still feeling well. According to one of my books, the babies should each weigh about 2 1/2 pounds. For the last month, they've been holding a weekly dance party in my belly. Usually when I'm grading on a Sunday afternoon. This week the babies must have decided to go all out, because they've been dancing every day. I picture them dancing a la Elaine from Seinfeld:

A couple of Week 28 pics plus a shout-out to my fellow Minnesota Twins fans. Twins are #1!

Yesterday I received these cute tie-dyed onesies from the Family and Consumer Science teachers at my school:

This afternoon my friends Sandy, Annessa, and Alma are holding a baby (babies?) shower for me at Sandy's house. I'm really excited to catch up with friends and family.
