June Storms

It's green here. And I love that.

We've had five straight days of stormy, tornado-producing weather. It's pretty unusual for us, but I'm enjoying not having the daily oppressive heat that has been the trademark of the last few summers.

If this rain continues much longer, we're in luck... I think my dad is figuring out how to build an ark.
Two tickets please.

This squirrel, which took shelter on our neighbor's roof during yesterday's rain and hail, would like a spot on the ark as well.

In the mean time... I've been working on a t-shirt quilt for my friend's son. I've finished piecing the front and now I need to visit the fabric store to buy the backing fabric.

White House Pics

(Found the White House Flickr photostream after searching for this first picture. Reminded me of watching the West Wing on tv; fun to get a behind the scenes look at the President.)

Loved this one:

President Barack Obama bends over so the son of a White House staff member can pat his head during a family visit to the Oval Office May 8, 2009. The youngster wanted to see if the President's haircut felt like his own. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)

Can you imagine the President playing defense on you? Yikes!

Of course I love that Mrs. Obama wears J.Crew.

Minnesota and Iowa - Part 3

{On Saturday morning we attended Julie's senior piano recital. It was amazing- she is so talented. My favorite surprise was when she played the processional piece that she played for our wedding. It was the song that the bridesmaids walked in to, so I didn't have a chance to hear it on our wedding day.}

{On Saturday afternoon my parents, Julie, and I drove into Ames to tour around the Iowa State campus. Everytime I go back, it's amazing to see so many changes.}

Minnesota and Iowa - Part 2

{On Friday afternoon Ma, Dad, and I headed down to Iowa to watch Julie play in a soccer game versus Winterset. Unfortunately, the Ballard Bombers were not victorious; we still enjoyed watching Julie.}

Now for some pictures from my recent jaunt to the Midwest.
{Lake Harriet is just a couple of blocks from David and Kelsey's house in Minneapolis. Ma, Eric, and I walked over there on Friday morning. There were quite a few joggers and walkers, as well as a few roller-bladers and bikers. I'm looking forward to spending more time with David and Kelsey exploring this great neighborhood.}
