Starting the New Year in Ohio

On Thursday, January 2nd, we flew to Ohio to visit Eric's family. Here's good ol' Diablo greeting us at the airport:

Lots of construction going on as a 500-room hotel and light rail station are being added:

Let's go, Mom!

Saying "hi" to the policeman across the street who was directing traffic:

Checking in on the construction progress:

Taking the train to the terminal:

Plus escalators. Bonus!

Waiting for our plane:

Reid took this one of me:

Hard to resist a good silhouette shot:

The boys are getting better at recognizing their names:

And we're off!

A little colder and snowier in Ohio:

Rock and Roll!

Fun with Uncle Shane:

At the last minute, I put my infinity scarfs on the boys. And because I hadn't actually sewn the scarfs for them, the boys loved them. I think I'll sew some for them too, which I'm sure they will quickly shun.

Showing me their snow angel techniques:

It was cooooold. I only lasted a few minutes before I moved back inside to take pictures.

Later on that afternoon we went over to visit Grandma in her nursing home. The boys colored new pictures for her bulletin board.

Reid insisted on wearing the scarf the rest of the day. We said he looked like a "hipster".

The boys were excited to spend time with Cousin Jordan again.

Time for presents.

And finally bedtime. Reid received three nerf-like baseballs from Grandpa and Grandma which he put in this gift bag and carried around with him everywhere.

Saturday, January 5th
Putting together a puzzle:

Laundry time:

More fun outside. This time it was a little warmer, so Eric and the boys made a snowman.

Reid was telling me they needed a carrot for their snowman. I asked him to smile, but he said he was too busy.

Ta-da!

Marlowe bought a couple of these Hallmark Disney Christmas figurines for me and Jennifer. They sync up and play songs together. We thought they were so neat that Shane went back to the store and bought enough for a couple of complete sets. They were on clearance, so it was a great deal.

Hanging out with Daddy.

Visiting Grandma to show her some of the Christmas presents.

Popcorn clouds.

Shane made a strawberry cake for dessert. It was DELICIOUS!

Watching football:

Cousin picture time:

Bedtime reading:

Sunday, January 5th
Heading back to Denver.

It was very rainy, but we're lucky it wasn't colder with snow or we probably wouldn't have been able to fly home.

December Daily 31

Wow! What a full month December was. Here's the last December Daily of 2013.

I felt like a train had run over me last night, because I had been up with Aiden at least eight times the night before. He kept waking up from nightmares, which happens every once in a while, but not the frequency of the other night. One of the times he woke up and said, "David wasn't listening to me!" Not sure what that was all about, Uncle David.

We made a run to Sears to try to find a replacement battery for Eric's drill. Turns out it's too old and they don't sell the parts for it anymore. The boys enjoyed playing outside for a little while when we got home.

I used one of Eric's bits with my dad's even older drill and put together the bookcase. Unfortunately, it's too heavy for me to get upright, so I'll have to wait for Eric's help. I was disappointed to hit this roadblock because I wanted to get everything organized before Eric arrives home later today.

We FaceTimed with Eric to end the evening. The boys were telling him about Monkey Bizness.

I hope all of you have a great 2014 in your future. Happy New Year!
